Douglas Arner
HKU School of Law
Douglas W. Arner is the Kerry Holdings Professor in Law at the University of Hong Kong and Project Coordinator of a major five-year project funded by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council Theme-based Research Scheme on “Enhancing Hong Kong’s Future as a Leading International Financial Centre”. In addition, he is Director of the HKU LLM in Compliance and Regulation, and a Senior Visiting Fellow of Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne.
Douglas specialises in economic and financial law, regulation and development. He is author, co-author or editor of fifteen books, including Reconceptualising Global Finance and its Regulation (Cambridge University Press 2016), Financial Markets in Hong Kong: Law and Practice (Oxford University Press, 2d ed., 2016), Finance in Asia: Institutions, Regulation and Policy (Routledge 2013), From Crisis to Crisis: The Global Financial Crisis and Regulatory Failure (Kluwer 2011), and Financial Stability, Economic Growth and the Role of Law (Cambridge University Press 2007), and the author or co-author of more than 120 articles, chapters and reports on related subjects.
Janos Barberis
SuperCharger FinTech Accelerator
Janos Barberis has an established track record in the FinTech industry (32nd Most Powerfull Dealmaker, Institutional Investor) and Academia (13th legal scholar in world, SSRN) and is driven to deliver actionable foresight. His area of focus is at the intersection of financial regulation, data management and digital identity. Academically, he co-developed the world's leading research which is directly used by regulators for policy design. Professionally, he founded SuperCharger, Asia's leading FinTech accelerator sponsored by Tier 1 clients and strong of an alumni network of 36 companies, which have raised in excess of US$450million. Finally, he co-edited, The FinTech Book, a global bestseller, distributed in 106 countries and 6 languages and due to release the world's first book on RegTech.
In last 3 years, he has completed over 100 keynotes (i.e. SIBOS), private client workshops (i.e Natixis), professional training (i.e. CFA), regulators consultations (i.e. ADB) and online lectures (i.e. HKU). His work is regularly cited by the media (i.e. Forbes), industry (i.e. E&Y) or governments (i.e. FSB). He holds several board appointments including being on the academic board of the Center of Finance Technology & Entrepreneurship (i.e. CFTE).
Huy Nguyen Trieu

Huy Nguyen Trieu is the CEO of The Disruptive Group, a business builder in innovation and finance. He has navigated between startups and large organizations, from tech CEO to MD in international banks. He is fascinated by the changes happening around us, the impact of technology on many industries, and the changing dynamics between small and large organizations.
He also believes that in a world led by technology, we shouldn’t forget the importance of people. He is the co-founder of CFTE, the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship, whose objective is to help professionals in finance improve their skills and find opportunities.
In 1999, he co-founded Ukibi, a precursor of Linkedin. After 5 intense years, he fell by coincidence into banking and was fortunate to be an intrapreneur in international banks where he helped to build high growth businesses, with his last position as Head of Insurance Structuring at Citi in London.
He writes Disruptive Finance, is an Associate Fellow at Oxford, a member of ESMA’s CWG for financial innovation, and a founding member of the Asian SuperCharger.
He is a frequent keynote speaker in Europe and Asia, likes to teach and share with students and entrepreneurs, and is regularly quoted in articles on innovation and finance.
Huy is a graduate from MIT (US), École Polytechnique (France) and ENPC (France). He is married and a happy father of 3 daughters.
Henri Arslanian
PwC FinTech/RegTech Lead
Henri Arslanian is the PwC FinTech & RegTech Lead for China and Hong Kong. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong where he teaches the first FinTech university course ever offered in Asia. Before joining PwC, Henri worked at a FinTech start-up and spent many years at UBS Investment Bank in Hong Kong.
Henri is a TEDx speaker, a published author, and board member at several finance, academic, civil society, and FinTech related advisory boards. He has been named one of the 100 Most Influential Individuals in FinTech in Asia and was awarded the Governor General of Canada Gold Medal for Academic Excellence.
Ross Buckley
University of New South Wales
Ross Buckley is King & Wood Mallesons Professor of International Finance Law, and a Scientia Professor, at UNSW Sydney, and Series Co-Editor of the Global Trade Law Series and International Banking and Finance Law Series, of Wolters Kluwer of The Hague. His research focus is FinTech, RegTech and blockchain and the enabling regulation of digital financial services in developing countries. He consults regularly to the Asian Development Bank, and has consulted to government departments in Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the U.S. He has been twice a Fulbright Scholar, and frequently a half-bright scholar.
Brian W Tang

Brian W Tang is the founder and managing director of Asia Capital Markets Institute (ACMI), an inclusive platform for global thought leadership, industry-wide consensus building and transformational technology, educational and policy solutions that reinforce professionalism, efficiency and innovation to foster trust and integrity. ACMI’s areas of focus include Regtech, Online Capital Marketplaces and Artificial Intelligence.
Brian is currently co-chair of the RegTech Committee of the Fintech Association of Hong Kong and on the IEEE AI Ethics Initiative’s Policy Panel. He is also a contributing author to the upcoming The RegTech Book on AI Responsibility Frameworks and has contributed chapters to The FinTech Book (Wiley) and Reconceptualising Global Finance and Its Regulation (Cambridge University Press).
Brian is a corporate finance lawyer who has worked on Wall Street, in Silicon Valley and in Hong Kong on financing technological innovations to benefit the real economy. He was previously at global investment bank Credit Suisse in Hong Kong, and prior to that at law firms Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and in California, and Mallesons in Perth, Australia.
Brian has worked on some of Asia’s largest and first-ever financial services and technology IPOs and M&A transactions, as well as project bonds and financings in Latin America and Australia, including the inaugural simultaneous A+H-share IPO of ICBC, Alibaba.com’s privatization, and leading a cross-disciplinary team to establish Credit Suisse’s joint venture investment bank in Beijing.
Brian is a frequently invited speaker at international industry conferences and leading universities.
Brian graduated from The University of Western Australia with a combined Bachelors of Arts and Laws (with honours) and from New York University School of Law with a Masters of Laws.
David L. Bishop
University of Hong Kong
David Bishop is a Principal Lecturer at the University of Hong Kong and Fudan University, Shanghai. Mr. Bishop earned his bachelor degree in History and Chinese (magna cum laude) from Brigham Young University, and his Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Mr. Bishop’s teaching focuses on a wide range of legal and ethics-related matters. He has consulted major companies concerning ethics, CSR, pro bono representation, and various compliance and governance matters.
Mr. Bishop is also the founder of several socially-minded companies, including Soap Cycling, a non-profit employing used hotel soap to enhance the lives of disadvantaged communities around Asia, and Fair Employment Agency, a non-profit employment agency focused on overcoming the exploitation of migrant laborers. He is also the proud father of three children.
David S. Lee
University of Hong Kong
Mr. David S. Lee worked in investment management in Hong Kong and London before joining the University of Hong Kong. He started his career at Goldman Sachs and also has experience in law and in management consulting. At HKU, Mr. Lee is an award-winning teacher and is passionate about teaching and engaging with students. His academic interests include corporate governance, ethics, decision-making, alternative investments, and the politics and economics of the Korean peninsula. His commentary on the above topics appears regularly in outlets such as the Nikkei Asian Review and the South China Morning Post. He remains engaged in professional practice as a director or advisor to companies and entrepreneurs, particularly in finance and technology, and currently works with traditional asset managers as well as new ventures in the financial technology (“fintech”) space.
Mr. Lee earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, his M.Sc. (with Merit) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, his M.A. from Harvard University, and his B.A., cum laude, in International Politics and Asian Studies from Brigham Young University. He is a lawyer and a CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) charterholder. He lives in Hong Kong with his family.

Jason Lau is a multiple award-winning cybersecurity professional with over 16 years of international experience, from being a Cybersecurity Advisor at Microsoft, to advising clients in the financial sector including Credit Suisse, UBS, Royal Bank of Scotland, Falcon Private Bank, WorldPay and many more.
Jason has completed executive leadership programs at both Stanford and Harvard, holds a double degree in Engineering and Commerce, and completed CISSP, CGEIT, CRISC, CISM, CISA, CEH, CNDA, and CSM industry certifications. Jason also sits on the Board of Invotech Hong Kong, which focuses on Special Interest Groups such as Smart City and FinTech, as well as being on ISACA’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Global Working Group.
